For all patients, unless they have a particular condition which means that they have or are likely to have a vitamin deficiency e.g. perhaps a bowel disorder that reduces absorption of vitamins or in those situations for which there is good evidence that a vitamin is recommended for a particular condition such as folic acid is in pre-pregnancy or pregnancy then additional vitamins are not required. Most people get enough vitamins from their diet and sunshine. The only vitamin that might be needed for normal "healthy" people is vitamin D if the person keeps most of their body out of the sun most of the time or where they live gets little sun.
I will be putting more information about this subject in the future and check for other posts on the website under the category "vitamins"

Thanks so much for your comment, Cassandra. There is a lot of interesting research about how we can stay healthy. I am trying to sort through some of that research and point out those that I think have general interest and merit and share them. We seem to be finding out that what we do ourselves makes a huge difference to our health. I am trying to get back to 2-3 articles a week depending on my schedule and information that might be of interest.

Thanks for your comments Patty.
We have all had periods of our lives when we were unhappy or things were tough. Some people seem to spend their whole lives in those situations, but are able to be happy whereas others are not so lucky. The article I linked to had information that might benefit people in a number of different situations to increase their chance of feeling happy perhaps despite everything.

That's a good question. I think the answer is that there is not as much an advantage to taking additional vitamins if you are already healthy. On the other hand if you have a medical condition which means that you are deficient in any vitamin then you need to take extra of that vitamin to get it to a normal level.
I was really trying to say not that vitamins cause cancer but there is little evidence that they protect us from cancer- whereas there is great evidence that fruit and vegetables reduce our chance of cancer so we need to take them and not substitute a vitamin as it doesn't seem to have the same benefit and may actually have the opposite effect.

Thanks for your comment. Less os more in our house too!! My wife organised an automatic program recorder so we always have something we want to watch when we want to watch it, I have stopped watching news and financial programs, and get that info from the web. Our son watches a few programs but we also explore youtube looking for anything that might interest him eg duck video of a ducks and duckling swimming or another of them trying to swim on ice. A couple of years after a neck injury I at last have the confidence to do some solid work outs and feeling as good as I have done in decades.

We had three TVs and we are now down to one. We had given away one and then another one quit working. We are loving it because our two young children have discovered the concept of sharing.
